Deepika Padukone is geared up to celebrate Holi this year. A day before the celebrations, the actress recalled playing Holi on the big screen. In the process, she went on to compare her and Ranbir Kapoor's song 'Balam Pichkari' to Amitabh Bachchan's iconic song 'Rang Barse'.

Talking about her experiences of playing Holi on the sets, Deepika recalled doing so with Ranbir in the song 'Balam Pichkari' (on Ayan Mukerji's 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' sets) and later playing with colours with Ranveer on Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film 'Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ramleela' sets, in the song 'Lahu Muh Lag Gaya'. Deepika even went a step further and told Hindustan Times in an interview, "If I may say, Balam Pichkari is like Rang Barse (from Amitabh Bachchan's 1981 film Silsila) of our generation. Nowadays, every Holi party starts with Rang Barse, and the second song has to be Balam Pichkari. So, it's become a new-age Holi anthem. It feels nice to have been part of such an iconic song."

Deepika went on to term 'Lahu Muh Laga Gaya' 'extremely sensual' and in stark contrast to the way she knows the festival. Talking about celebrations with Ranveer, Deepika added, "As much as possible, we try and be in the city, with family. We did the same even before marriage."

Stating that the main idea is spending quality time together, Deepika said, "We (me and Ranveer) do a small pooja in our house and then we go to our in-laws' home where everyone is together. So, it's a bigger celebration. If our respective parents can be together [on that day], then that's the best thing. Otherwise, my in-laws are here so a part of the family is always around (smiles). We don't do anything very elaborate. For us. the main idea of festivals or holidays is to spend quality time together."
