SALEM: Three people, including a woman, were found dead with injuries on their bodies at their home in Tirumalaigiri on the outskirts of
Salem on Sunday night. Within a few hours of the crime, the
Kerala police nabbed four suspects from an express
train at
Palakkad railway station.
The murdered have been identified as Akash, 23, his wife Vandhana Kumari, 21, his nephew Sunny Kumar, 18. All were from
Agra. They were working at a silver ankle chain manufacturing unit run by Thangaraj in Tirumalaigiri.
Around 10.30pm on Sunday, Thangaraj and his neighbours heard Akash’s 10-month-old son crying for a long time. He entered the house to check and found Vandhana Kumari lying dead with injuries on her body.
He searched for others and found the bodies of Akash and Sunny Kumar in the backyard of the house. Thangaraj alerted the Steel Plant police.
Inquiries revealed that four people who had recently come to Akash’s house from Agra joined Thangaraj unit on Saturday. These four men were missing from the house.
"We checked CCTV camera footages from the bus stand and the railway station. We spotted them boarding a Kerala-bound express train," a police officer said. They immediately alerted the Palakkad police to check the train.
The Palakkad police nabbed the four men from the train after identifying them based on the visuals shared by the Salem police.
A special team was rushing to Palakkad to arrest the suspects. "The reason for the
murder will be ascertained only after questioning them," he added.
