MUMBAI: In a case of
train bullying, a 33-year-old commuter suffered a leg fracture after being badly beaten up by two co-travellers in a moving train late on Friday. Kurla GRP arrested the duo,
Vasant Palekar and
Santosh Karanje, 22, on charges of assault.
Vinod Parse, the complainant, told TOI that he did not know the men who beat him up. "It was a trivial argument over seats," said Parse.
A resident of Kurla, Parse works in a private firm. He was returning home when the incident occurred between 10.15 and 10.24 pm on a harbour local. The train was between Cotton Green and GTB Nagar stations when Parse and the men had a scrap over being pushed around. " They hit me on my face and on my leg before anyone else could intervene. I have suffered a fracture in my leg," said Parse. He added that his gold chain got lost in the melee.
The matter was reported to Kurla GRP the same night. An FIR was registered and Parse was sent to a doctor. Palekar and Karanje, both Sion residents, were taken into custody on Saturday under section 324 of IPC. The duo was produced before a railway court.
