On the occasion of International Women’s Day, an all women car rally was organised in the city to celebrate the women’s achievements in every field. The car rally that started from near Gandhi park saw more than 50 participants.
The participants had decorated their cars to send messages of their achievements and spread awareness on need of women empowerment and gender equality. To flag off the event, actor Siddhant Mahapatra, actress Bidusmita, former athlete Anuradha Mohanty, MP Achyut Samant and DCP (Traffic) Sagarika Nath were present at the event. Even the DCP led the car rally that went towards Ram mandir at the heart of the city and culminated at KIIT Stadium. “The car rally has been organised for last few years. This time, we are celebrating the achievements of women in every fields. More than 50 cars have taken part in the rally,” said Linkan Subuddhi, social activist and organising member. Talking on the occasion, actor Siddhant Mahapatra urged all to promote equality. “I feel lucky that I have three lady lucks at my home, my mother, wife and daughter,” said the actor. Even the DCP urged men to play a bigger role in women empowerment and encouraged women to break stereotype instead of bashing men while asking for equality.
