From floral kurta sets to sequinned saris and heavily embroidered lehengas, Isha Ambani has one of everything in her collection
Isha Ambani may love her red carpet gowns and easy-going dresses, but it’s her traditional wardrobe that has caught our attention this time. From decadent lehengas and stunning saris to breezy kurta sets, the young businesswoman’s collection of Indian wear features almost every popular silhouette—mostly from designers like Sabyasachi Mukherjee, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla and Anamika Khanna.
When attending weddings, she’s usually spotted in embroidered lehengas with floral work. Case in point: the 3D floral embellished Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga she wore in 2019. But that doesn’t mean she shies away from experimenting with her outfits. Just last month, Ambani turned heads in a mismatched Sabyasachi lehenga featuring a salmon-coloured blouse, a pistachio dupatta, and a busy skirt that brought both hues together.
“I love wearing Indian clothes. I think it’s one of the greatest things about being Indian—our clothes!” Ambani once exclaimed during a Vogue India interview, and her casual looks serve as solid proof. Florals continue to be the reigning theme in this section of her closet as well. She attended Reliance Industries Limited’s 42nd annual general meeting in a romantic floral kurta and palazzo pants set, and matched a long floral kurta with plain white cropped pants in April 2019.
While she may not choose to wear them as often, saris have a special spot in Ambani’s repertoire. For Armaan Jain and Anissa Malhotra’s recent wedding, she stepped out in a sequinned cocktail sari by Sabyasachi in champagne gold, proving that an effortless drape can make just as much impact as an elaborate lehenga. She chose the six yard staple for Mukesh and Nita Ambani’s extravagant pre-Diwali party in Mumbai as well, championing a mint green silk sari by Sabyasachi, featuring illustrated floral motifs that were woven with pure zari. She wore her sari with a maroon, velvet blouse, which came accentuated with zardozi work. Scroll ahead for a closer peek inside Isha Ambani’s Indian wear wardrobe.
