LUDHIANA: Large number of women took out a protest rally against Citizenship Amendment Act and NCR on Women’s Day in Ludhiana on Sunday. The women protesters mostly comprised Muslim women who had come from various areas of Ludhiana district and later they marched to Ludhiana’s “Shaheen Bagh” where Anti-CAA protesters are on protest sit on for last 26 days.
Giving details, Muhammad Mustukeem, private secretary to Shahi Imam Punjab Maulana Habib-ur-Rehman Saani Ludhianvi, said that apart from various areas of city, women from Jagraon and other areas of Ludhiana District participated in the protest march against CAA, NRC and NPR. He added that protest march by large number of women protesters started from near Grain Market on Jalandhar Byepass and ended at Karabara Chowk.
Many women protesters were seen carrying placards with anti CAA, NRC and NPR slogans. The protesters also raised slogans against the act.
Addressing the gathering, a woman protester Nagma said that now that the women have come on roads to fight against the black law “CAA”, they will stop agitation only after the Union government takes it back. She alleged that efforts are being made to stop the protests at Shaheen Baghs but they will not let such attempts to succeed.
