PATNA: In a shocking incident, a man himself reached at Phulwarisharif police station in city on Saturday morning and quietly surrendered himself before police just after half an hour of killing his wife by slitting her throat inside her private residence at Bramhapur village.
The confession of the accused, identified as one Mohammad Junaid aged around 30 years, completely shocked policemen who were on duty that time. Junaid hailed from Gulistan locality under same police station area but lived at wife’s residence.
Soon after initial interrogation, police team was rushed to Bramhapur which found Junaid’s wife body lying in pool of blood on a bed inside a room of her residence.
Phulwarisharif police station SHO Rafique-ur-Rahman said the murdered wife was identified as Azmati Khatoon, aged around 40 years.
“Junaid had slit her throat with a scissor. A stab wound was also visible on throat. The scissor was seized lying on the bed,” he said.
Rahman said Junaid alleged that she was having illicit relations with several persons which he used to oppose and finally killed her.
"Soon after he had reached station, we asked if she was alive or not. To this, Junaid replied that he left for police station only after getting assured that she had died," SHO said.
“Junaid was Azmati’s fourth husband. Her first husband Mohammad Shamshad had died years back from which Azmati had a 20 year old son. She married again with one Mohammad Kayoom. Later she again married with Sanjay Gandhi from whom she had an eight year old son. Sanjay had left her almost three years back,” he said.
The SHO said Junaid had married Azmati hardly a month back after being in live-in-relationship.
“She had once lodged complaint with women help line that Junaid was not marrying her even after having relation. Preliminary investigation indicates Junaid married her under pressure due to several reason but finally killed to get rid of her,” SHO said.
He said Azmati’s elder sister Akbari Khatoon had reached police station to lodge and FIR against Junaid alleging that he used to extort money from her. “Further investigation were on. Body was handed over to family after post mortem,” SHO added.
