KARNAL: Karnal municipal corporation on Friday sealed a
restaurant, which is a franchise of a chain owned by actor
Dharmendra, for not having change of land use (CLU) permission and violating building bylaws. Action was initiated 20 days after the hotel, situated on National Highway 44, was opened when the actor turned up for the inauguration.
An official said a notice had already been served thrice on the owner, who belongs to Delhi, but there was no reply. Karnal tehsildar Rajbaksh was appointed as duty magistrate for sealing the property. Heavy police force led by
Karnal City police station SHO Harjinder Singh was deployed to keep law and order.
An under-construction building near
Namaste Chowk was also sealed. “We implemented the orders of Karnal municipal commissioner to seal the restaurant building as it was being constructed and extended illegally,” Rajbaksh said.
Karnal deputy commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav said they had asked the owner to obtain a CLU certificate, but he did not bother. “If the owner obtains the CLU, we will open it,” he said.
