NOIDA: A 32-year-old software engineer has alleged that a housekeeping staff member at a store in Logix City
Center peeped inside a
trial room that she was in. The accused, an 18-year-old man, has been arrested.
The incident took place around 1.30pm on Thursday at Shoppers Stop when Bunty was cleaning a mirror next to the trial rooms for women, police said.
Assistant commissioner of police Rajnish Verma told TOI the 18-year-old was standing on a stool. He allegedly peeped inside through the gap between the trial room’s door and the ceiling when the woman was trying on clothes. The techie, who works at a private firm, has also alleged that when she confronted the youth, he held her hand. The woman has told police she then tried to slap him.
Police officers said they were checking CCTV footage from the store. An official from the
mall who went to Sector 24 police station after the incident told TOI that they were trying to talk to the complainant. A spokesperson for Shoppers Stop said, “We are trying to collate the facts — the matter is under investigation and necessary support will be extended to investigating authorities.”
After the Greater Noida resident filed a police complaint, an FIR was lodged under IPC Section 354C (watching or capturing image of a woman in a private act).
Logix Mall head Ashish Sharma said they were not aware of the incident as the store management did not inform them about it.
