Zach Senyshyn scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, and Brendan Gaunce extended his point streak to 11 games. Max Lagace got the start in goal for Providence, recording 34 saves for his 22nd win of the season, which ranks second in the AHL.

Ryan Fitzgerald and Trent Frederic gave the P-Bruins a 2-0 lead in the first period.

““We were very good in the first,” said P-Bruins coach Jay Leach. “We were skating hard and doing a lot of the things we talked about against a group that we knew was going to push. They gave us all we could handle and then some.”

Danik Martel cut the Thunderbirds' deficit in half with a goal at 6:20 of the second period, but Senyshyn got his sixth at 14:57 to restore the two-goal advantage for Providence.

Martel scored again in the third to make it 3-2, but Studnicka scored into an empty net with 13 seconds left to seal it.
