Maharashtra finance miniser Ajit Pawar on Friday presented the state budget in assembly for the financial year 2020-21. Here all the highlights from the budget speech.
* MLA Local Area Development (LAD) funds increased from Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore.
* Rs 9,800 crore allocated for district development plan.
* State to create Transgender Welfare Board. Rs 5 crore allocated for the welfare of the transgenders.
* Rs 9,668 crore allocated for social justice department.
* 500 capacity hostel for backward class students in Mumbai and Pune university.
* In 5 years, 10 lakh youth will be placed as interns with key companies across sectors. Government to pay 75% of the salary for the interns who will be working with private and semi-government organisations under the Apprentice Act: Finance minister
* Rs 1,300 crore allocated for higher and technical education.
* The budget proposes Rs 5 crore for the digitisation of texts available with Mumbai Marathi Grantha Sangrahalaya.
* Rs 2,525 crore allocated for education and sports activities.
* Old ST buses to be scrapped and 1,600 new buses to be added to the fleet. Rs 401 crore allocated for the ST corporation.
* Land acquisition for Ring Road in Konkan will start this year. The total cost of this project is Rs 15,000 crore: Ajit Pawar
* Konkan region gets 3,500 crore for development projects.
* FM announces Rs 7,995 crore for textile sector.
* Animal husbandry and fisheries department gets Rs 3,254 crore.
* Rs 670 crore allocated for installation of solar pumps for farmers.
* Rs 10, 235 crores for water conservation. A new scheme for repairs and renovation of water supply projects.
* The budget proposes payback scheme of up to Rs 50,000 for farmers who have been paying their loans regularly for the last 3 years.
* The finance minister announces a one-time settlement scheme for the farmers who have an outstanding loan of more than Rs 2 lakh.
* The Maha Vikas Aghadi government proposes Rs 7,000 crore for the loan waiver scheme for 2020-21.
* The debt on the state in the last five years increased by Rs 2.82 lakh crore and the total debt today has touched Rs 4.33 lakh crore, says finance minister.

* Finance minister Ajit Pawar will table the Mahavikas Aghadi government's first state budget at 11 am.
* Earlier on Thursday, expressing concerns over the observations in the Economic Survey 2019-20, deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government would reclaim the state's top ranking.
