Nagpur: Nagpur University (NU) exam section allegedly published revaluation result of LLB (3-yr course) third semester just days before the summer exam for the same course is set to start.
On Wednesday, a delegation led by AAP’s student wing Chhatra Yuva Sangharsh Samiti (CYSS) held a protest at NU’s Jamnalal Bajaj Bhavan off Ambazari Bypass demanding postponing of the exam scheduled to start from March 11 to a later day as their revaluation result was not announced even after around 50 days.
The delegation met vice-chancellor SP Kane who assured them the result would be published in three days. On Thursday, director of examinations and evaluation Prafulla Sabale termed the agitation as “uncalled for’ as the said result was already announced a day before.
“The result was out when the delegation met the VC. I was there but I couldn’t confirm it on the spot. When I checked in the evening, I came to know it was already out,” he said.
CYSS Vidarbha region convenor Piyush Akre claimed that though the publishing date states March 4, the result was declared on March 5 evening. “We kept a track and even marksheets bear the date as March 5,” he said.
Though the NU follows a deadline of 30 days, extendable up to 45, from the date of last paper for regular exams, it has never given any timeline for revaluaton results.
Saballe said second phase of summer exam is starting from March 19 and there is no way this result could be kept pending. “As on date, 80 results are in process. We have received 34 exam requistions (revaluation applications) recently. Daily eight to 10 results are published. This time, out of around 435 requisitions, the exam section has declared results of 321. Total 935 exams were held in winter from which 62,507 students applied for revaluation in 435 exams,” Saballe said.
He said when he clarified the result was declared the students changed the subject to MCom. “ I told them that too has been published,” he said.

Revaulation refund
CYSS delegation also raised the issue of revaluation refund with the VC. They said the VC assured them the university would be issuing a notification in this regard in a week or two. “The VC told us that students from 2017 onwards will get refund. He mentioned Rs3.30crore would be refunded as per estimates. But we know the claim is much bigger,” CYSS convenor Piyush Akre said.
