PATNA: Education minister
Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma on Thursday reiterated in the state assembly that the government would pay revised salary to the
contractual teachers as per its capacity. He once again made an appeal to the teachers to call off their strike as the government was ready to hold talks.
“The government is not hostile towards teachers. They should resume work and accept the revised salary,” Verma said.
Meanwhile, the state assembly on Thursday passed by voice vote the Rs 35,191 crore budget of the education department for the 2020-21 fiscal.
The cut motion on the education department’s budget for the 2020-21 fiscal was moved by senior RJD member
Lalit Kumar Yadav. Later, mid-way through the Verma’s reply to the House debate on his department’s budget, the opposition members had walked out of the House.
Verma said the state cabinet had sanctioned Rs 1,091 crore for the construction of the buildings of 947 government schools which did not have their own buildings. “The buildings will be constructed in six months. Textbooks are being made available to the students for which the government is transferring required money into the bank accounts of their guardians,” he added.
