19 Bihar cops axed for taking bribe from truckers

SASARAM: Kaimur SP Dilwaz Ahamad suspended 19 police personnel late on Wednesday night, including two police officers of Kudra police station, on charges of allowing illegal sand-laden vehicles to cross NH-2 after taking bribe from the truckers.
The police also seized three overloaded sand-laden heavy vehicles and lodged an FIR in this connection. Seven people, including drivers and helpers of the seized vehicles, were arrested.
The SP said after receiving complaints that police personnel deployed at the check post on NH-2 at Paharpur village were taking bribe from truckers, a team was formed to look into the matter. “The team found the allegation to be true and suspended 19 police personnel,” the SP added.
