GAYA: Gaya DM Abhishek Singh on Thursday inspected the screening facility at the international airport here in view of coronavirus threat. A medical student from the district, who had returned from China in the last week of January, was admitted to the isolation ward of the Anugrah Narain Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH) here on Wednesday evening.
The DM first visited the exit point of the international flights on the first floor of the airport. He was accompanied by civil surgeon Dr BK Singh.
The medical team deputed at the international flight exit point informed the DM that each passenger is screened with a laser thermometer that instantly displays the body temperature of the visitor. “The visitors are also mandated to fill a form giving details of their travel itinerary, including history of recent travel, their proposed place of stay in Bodh Gaya and the places likely to be visited by them,” they said.
The DM also visited the domestic flight exit point. As no medical team was found at the domestic flight exit point, he asked the civil surgeon to make additional deployment of the medical team to cover the domestic passengers as well.
According to ANMMCH sources, samples collected from the quarantined student have been sent to Patna for test. Earlier, two other quarantined patients were discharged from the isolation ward of the hospital as the test reports were found negative.
