CHANDIGARH: Three more suspected cases of
Coronavirus, including two siblings, were on Thursday reported in the city. While siblings were admitted at GMCH-32, the third person was admitted to PGI.
One of the siblings, a 22-year-old woman of Sector 31 here, who had travelled to Indonesia and returned to India on March 2, had come in contact with her brother. The woman reported mild cough. According to the doctors at GMCH-32, the brother of the woman has not shown any symptom yet. However, since he was in close contact, he has also been admitted.
“Samples have been sent to AIIMS, New Delhi and the results are expected by Friday,” said a doctor.
The person admitted at PGI had travelled to Italy. The samples of the suspect have been sent to AIIMS, New Delhi.
Meanwhile, all three suspected cases admitted to PGI on Wednesday have tested negative. Their reports were in late Thursday evening from AIIMS, New Delhi.
To date, 10 suspected cases have been admitted to PGI’s communicable diseases and isolation ward, and two to GMCH. Out of the 10 suspected cases at PGI, nine have tested negative.
Last month, a resident of Sector 37 working in a Singapore-based company, had visited Chandigarh, and was admitted to PGI. Later, he was discharged after his samples tested negative for Coronavirus. Also, a suspected case of the virus was admitted to PGI in January and he too was found to be negative for the virus. Two children with a travel history to Singapore were also admitted after they were suspected to be infected with the virus, later discharged.
