A woman who suffers from severe back pain has won $100,000 on a $5 scratchie.

The woman in her 70s, from Perth, can now afford back surgery after purchasing the winning ticket from Innaloo Lottery Centre earlier this week.

She was playing the '20 X The Cash' ticket, but was skeptical she would win anything, let alone $100,000.

'I only said the other day that I thought these games didn't have any major winners,' she told Perth Now.

'I have major surgery coming up and this win allows me to hire a nurse or carer for a month to look after me...I have been worried about my recovery for ages.'

'Thank God I was at home when I discovered my win. I would have made a scene if I was in public.'

The woman said she even used a magnifying glass to make sure she won the cash.

More than $20million will be up for grabs on Thursday night's Powerball draw.
