Former CS calls for air quality monitoring system in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Finance commission chairman S M Vijayanand stressed the need to have a system to monitor the air quality in the city. He also said that a local investors meet shall be organised for development of the city. He was talking at a seminar on ` Ananthapuri 2020-25 which was organised as part of development fest at Putharikandam. KILA director Joy Elamon said that there shall be facilities for the maintenance of health of youth and new kind of education system shall be created for a new world.
Haritha Keralam mission vice chairperson T N Seema said that it is essential to create a situation wherein women can walk around freely and safely in the city anytime especially at night. She said that women friendly toilets shall be made and functioning of gender resource centre shall be made efficient. She pointed out that many hostels in the city act as prisons for working women and this creates lot of trouble for employed women.
Mayor K Sreekumar said that corporation is implementing projects to upgrade the capital as a high tech city. He was presenting the development document of the city at the function. Vanchiyur P Babu, chairman of development committee, deputy mayor Rakhi Ravikumar were present on the occasion.
