FALL RIVER — “So did y’ hear the story of the Johnstone twins? How one was kept and one given away?” If tickets sales are any indication, there's lots of curiosity about Little Theatre of Fall River's next production, Willy Russell’s award-winning musical "Blood Brothers."

"Blood Brothers" will run March 12 through March 22 at Little Theatre's Firebarn. As more than half of the production has already sold out, LTFR just announced an additional show on Sunday, March 15 at 7:30 p.m.

"Blood Brothers" combines a gripping story with a dramatic musical score. It was a hit in the West End, where it played for 24 years. "Blood Brothers" tells the story of a financially struggling mother who, in desperation, gives away one of her twin boys at birth to her wealthy childless employer. Unaware of their blood ties and despite their vastly different upbringing, the boys grow up to become best friends, and then rivals, both falling in love with the same girl.

Director Deborah Sadler is surrounded by a talented team who will transport audiences away from the Firebarn to Liverpool in the '60s. Aaron Gendreau-Visco's impressive set design, combined with Johnny Cagno's gorgeous costume design and Bobby Perry's superb musical direction  will amaze audiences. Sadler said she is delighted to bring this thrilling folk opera to Little Theatre audiences. "It has been my honor to explore themes like nature versus nurture, upper versus lower class, and superstition versus fate with such a talented cast of actors,” added Sadler.

That talented cast features Jessalyn Sadler Correa as Mrs. Johnstone, marking her return to the stage for the first time since her portrayal of the Witch in "Into The Woods." Salder Correa, daughter of the director, is taking on a role her mother played 20 years ago for Little Theatre of Fall River. After a 17 year absence, Chris Mello returns to the stage as Mickey, the youngest son of Mrs Johnstone’s seven children. His twin brother, Eddie is played by Nikos Koutsogiannis. Firebarn patrons may be familiar with Koutsogiannis from his roles in "Spring Awakening" and as the Emcee in "Cabaret." Erin Cote, who recently starred as Princess Fiona in Little Theatre's "Shrek The Musical," plays Mrs. Lyons. David Faria takes on the role of The Narrator guiding audiences through this incredible tale.

Few musicals have received as much acclaim as the multi-award winning "Blood Brothers." Bill Kenwright’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the "Standing Ovation Musical," as inevitably it “brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval."
