A former foster carer is set to face court charged with indecently assaulting a nine-year-old girl in the Newcastle area.

The 42-year-old was arrested at a NSW Central Coast home last month over allegations he indecently assaulted the girl several times when she was in his care in 2017.

He is due to face the Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday charged with four counts of aggravated indecent assault and one of committing an act of indecency with a person under 16.
