Over 2,100 run for kidney health in Aurangabad

The winners of the fourth edition of Kidneython, organised on the occasion of World Kidney Day on March 1.
AURANGABAD: On the occasion of World Kidney Day, a marathon was organised in the city as a part of the fourth edition of Kidneython on March 1.
CIIGMA Group of Hospital and Nephron Kidney Care organised the event in 10 km, 5 km and 2 km running categories to create awareness about the kidney diseases. More than 2,100 runners participated in the event which included 130 kidney transplant recipients and 80 kidney donors.
A host of dignitaries including mayor Nandkumar Ghodele, commissioner of police Chiranjeev Prasad, special IG Ravinder Kumar Singal, Virji Safaya, CMD of United CIIGMA Hospital Unmesh Takalkar, and others flagged off the run. First blood group mismatch transplant recipient Dattatraya Kholgade, Kishor Suryawanshi who represented India in World Transplant Games 2019 and Yogesh Bhatiwal, a practicing pathologist from Akola and kidney transplant recipient participated as event ambassadors.
The event was coordinated by Sachin Soni, Shriganesh Barnela, Sonali Saboo, Sweta Barnela and concluded with award ceremony for winners of Kidneython.
