Authorities seize 20,000kg plastic bags from Ulhasnagar factory

ULHASNAGAR: In a joint action, teams of Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) and Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) seized plastic bags weighing 20,000kg from a manufacturing unit in Ulhasnagar on Wednesday.
The action was taken on Wednesday after Maharashtra Nav Nirman Sena worker Mainuddin Shaikh received information about a company manufacturing banned plastic and shared information with senior staff of the UMC and MPCB.
UMC sources said deputy commissioner Santosh Dehrekar then formed a team and along with MPCB officials raided the unit.
"The staff present at the unit managed to flee before the raid. The MPCB is searching for its owner," Ganesh Shimpi, assistant municipal commissioner of UMC told TOI
