Vadlamani Ravi, first Telugu man to be International Director of Rotary
He would join the board of directors in July, 2021 and serve for two years.

GUNTUR: Noted charted accountant, Vadlamani Ravi has been elected as International director of Rotary club. Ravi, native of Guntur, is the first person from Telugu states to have elected to the coveted post of International director in Rotary in its history. Ravi clinched the victory by defeating two rival candidates in the stiff contest. He would join the board of directors in July, 2021 and serve for two years.
The results of the two-month long online polling were declared on Wednesday. About 1405 members from 824 clubs in 9 rotary districts spread over AP, Telangana, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra exercised their franchise.
Ravi is known as bench man in AP and Telangana as he is chiefly responsible for distribution of thousands of benches in the government schools.
He is recipient of the honorary doctorate from Acharya Nagarjuna University for his service to the society as a social worker. He worked as district governor in the past and associated with Rotary international for the past three decades. He is in fact known as Rotary Ravi in his close circle. He was nominated as best Rotary district governor in the world in 2001. He was also awarded as best Rotarian in rotary district 3150 between1989-90.
Ravi bagged many awards and citations from Rotary international. He was best area chairman of Round Table India in 1995. Ravi received the distinguished service medallion by Association of Round Tables in Arabian Gulf and also best floor tabler, Round Table India. He was awarded 13 gold medals by Governor of AP for his meritorious services rendered to the Indian Red Cross Society.
"It is a proud moment for all of us as Ravi is synonymous for service," said Ratna Prabhakara Reddy of Rotary International. Industrialist P Ramachandra Raju said that Ravi's election as International Director would be a boon to the infrastructure in the public schools in the state as his love for the underprivileged children is known across the globe and he was capable of pooling up more funds. Retired professor Dr DAR Subramanyam hailed Ravi's election as golden moment in the social service.
