NOIDA: Schools across the city have suggested that children be given flu vaccines and parents have been asked to share information in case they have travelled to or from China or other Southeast Asian countries in the past 15 days. Children have been asked to wear surgical masks and follow sneezing and coughing etiquette.

Apeejay School, Noida, said: “We inform parents that the school has taken sanitisation measures and the parents should follow prevention guidelines. With a global outbreak of the disease, we are following all guidelines. The school will continue to operate as usual.”

We are sending out regular communications and medical advisories to educate parents and students. Parents are advised to get their children vaccinated against influenza virus. It is recommended that students with cold use normal surgical masks that can prevent spreading of infection,” said a school spokesperson. “Children should to wash their hands often with soap and water. The school should be informed if anyone from a child’s family has travelled to China or
Southeast Asia in the past 15 days.”
On Wednesday, most schools reported low attendance. “We are too scared and can’t expose our child to risks. I will not send my kid to school till Holi,” a parent said.
