Coronavirus in Hyderabad: Two test positive in city

HYDERABAD: Two days after the first confirmed case of Covid-19 was reported in Hyderabad, two more positive cases have emerged in the first lab test done at ICMR in Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad. The samples are being sent to the National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune for confirmation and if they come out positive, they will be confirmed as positive cases.
Of the two one is a patient who had come in contact with the 24-year-old software professional tested positive for the virus. Another patient has a travel history traced to Italy. In total 47 samples were tested on Tuesday and 45 of them (including the contacts traced to the first positive patient) have come out to be negative.
“Two samples are being sent to the NIV Pune, for further testing. Report of NIV, Pune is expected tomorrow. They are being kept in isolation in Gandhi Hospital. The 45 persons who were negative were discharged and advised strict home isolation for 14 days, the single positive case of Covid-19 is stable and in isolation at the hospital,” said the Dr G Srinivas Rao, director public health.
