61% women homebuyers in NCR are end-users, says report

NOIDA: Unlike men, more women buy a property to stay in it. This inference can be drawn from the latest study by real estate consultants Anarock that has found that 77% women buy homes for end-use as compared to 62% men in India. And Gurugram is a woman homebuyer’s most favourite destination.
Among women investing in real estate in Delhi-NCR, the report says that 61% are homebuyers while 39% consider a property as an investment opportunity.
Of these women investors in NCR, 42% prefer affordable segment within Rs 45 lakh, followed by 32% in mid-segment (Rs 45 lakh-Rs 90 lakh), 20% in premium category (Rs 90 lakh-Rs 1.5cr) and 6% in the luxury segment above Rs 1.5cr, the Anarock report has revealed.
City-wise, 68% women homebuyers in Gurugram pick up property for self-use. In Noida and Delhi, the figure is 65%, while it’s 59% in Greater Noida, the study has found. Pan-India, 22% of those women who want to invest in NCR, prefer Gurugram, followed by Noida, Greater Noida, Delhi and Ghaziabad.
“The growing dominance of women homebuyers has been an ongoing phenomenon over the past few years, especially in urban centres. Proximity to work is a matter of choice among women homebuyers. Women are starting to buy houses as early as at 25 years or below,” Anuj Puri, chairman of Anarock, said.
Builders’ body has acknowledged the women power. “Women homebuyers are increasingly becoming an important customer-base for urban centres and is likely to grow in the coming years,” a Credai-NCR spokesperson said.
