KOLKATA: As the Trinamool Congress vs BJP battle over the citizenship law intensifies, TMC chief and West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee has declared setting up of a fund to aid victims of violence across the country even as she blamed the Centre for the Delhi riots. TMC MP Derek O’Brien said in New Delhi on Tuesday that Rs 10 lakh have already been committed to its corpus.
He termed the Delhi violence a “genocide” and said the party wanted the issue to be discussed in Parliament while also demanding an SC-monitored probe into it. He said of the corpus fund, Rs 5 lakh have been committed from the royalty of books written by CM and remaining Rs 5 lakh will be contributed by party MPs.
