GREATER NOIDA: A woman has filed a complaint with Surajpur police station accusing an unknown person in Karnataka for making a number of transactions using a cloned ATM card against her SBI account for which she did not even receive an intimation message on her phone.
Pinky Khatoon, a native of Ghari Shahdara village in Surajpur, said that she found out about the fraud transactions when she visited the bank branch on February 27. The officials told her that a total of Rs 3.46 lakh were dispensed from an ATM in Karnataka in the last 10-15 days using her ATM card.
“These transactions were happening since February 6, it's strange that not a single text message of intimation was sent to me by the bank,” she said, adding that the accused made transactions ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 almost every day.
An FIR has been lodged under section 420 (Cheating) of the IPC against the unknown person. Harish Chander, DCP (central Noida) told TOI that the cyber police team has been brought in to investigate. “We are trying to get CCTV footage of the ATM to identify the accused. We are checking why the text messages of it were not delivered,” he said.
