It was a source of inspiration for many. I would like to congratulate TOI for honouring and acknowledging the work of people who have contributed immensely in their respective fields.” he said.
Right from environment to education, readers enjoyed reading a potpourri of amazing profiles and some were fortunate enough to attend the awards ceremony.
“The message of Nagpur Heroes was loud and clear. The energy at the ceremony was amazing. Every nominee is a hero in his own way. It’s a great feeling to know that such extraordinary personalities reside in our city,” said Bilal Ahmed, a travel operator.
Secretary of Vidarbha Taxpayers’ Association (VTA), Tejinder Singh Renu, was one of the attendees. He has lauded the TOI initiative which is a great platform to acknowledge the selfless work done by all the nominees. “Such programmes carry a deep message. It’s not only about a token of appreciation, but it’s a celebration of life, work and dedication. I had a wonderful time when I saw so many deserving people winning awards. I’m looking forward to this year’s ceremony.” he said.
“Apart from the routine news, reading a newspaper becomes more enriching when we go through profiles of heroes in the true sense of the word. Nagpur Heroes has a lot to offer in terms of social work and humanity in particular,” said Ayesha Mirza, a home maker.
Kaustav Chatterjee, founder of Green Vigil Foundation, is a regular at the Nagpur Heroes awards function. “Nagpur Heroes is a truly transparent and unique awards ceremony. It is the right platform which recognizes the unsung heroes of the city. The curiosity begins immediately after the announcement. It peaks on the penultimate day with the nominees at par with each other. One can feel the buzz a fortnight before the finale. Even nominees feel like winners as getting nominated is a reward in itself,” he said.
