coronavirus made inroads into the country, at least 71 isolation wards have been set up in all prominent government hospitals in Lucknow to deal with any emergency situation.
Chief medical officer (CMO), Lucknow, Dr Narendra Agarwal on Tuesday said, “People coming from abroad, especially 12 countries where coronavirus cases have been reported, are being screened at the airport. Six doctors and eight paramedics have been stationed at the airport helpdesk. We have one thermal scanner and two infrared thermometers for diagnosis.”
“Isolation wards have been set up at SGPGI, KGMU and Ram Manohar Lohia, Civil, Lokbandhu and Balrampur hospitals. Samples are being tested at KGMU,” said Dr Agarwal.
He said adequate personal protection equipment (PPE) kits and N95 masks were available.
“Two lab technicians each have been given training in sample collection at every hospital. Till date, six people from Lucknow have been kept under observation and their samples have been taken. Five of them were tested negative for coronavirus. Nearly 300 people who came to Lucknow from other countries but showed no symptoms were kept under observation at their homes.
