Punjab govt starts free health insurance scheme for farmers

LUDHIANA: The Punjab government, through the Punjab Mandi Board has started ‘Ayushman Bharat Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana’ for all the farmers of the state. The farmers, who have sold their produce in year 2018 or 2019, will be able to avail free health treatment of up to Rs 5 lakh under this scheme.
District Mandi Officer Jasbir Kaur informed that the farmers who want to avail benefit of this scheme should contact their respective market committee offices along with their J Form/Sugarcane Weight Slip. She stated that the already registered farmers should also contact the market committee offices for verification of their names, for getting e-cards and to get names of their family members added, information regarding government and private empanelled hospitals etc.
