Experts stressed on focusing on quality in all aspects of healthcare to improve patient care services at the national healthcare conclave here on Wednesday (March 4).

More than 500 medical professionals across the country converged at the conference. Organised by Ruby Hall Clinic, the theme of the conference was re-imagining healthcare through excellence in quality.
"The theme of the conclave reminds me of the qualities of late senior physian K B Grant, the founder of Ruby Hall Clinic. He had affection for patients and teaching. He had a desire to grow and had one particular quality and that is to learn, unlearn and relearn," said senior orthopaedic surgeon K H Sancheti in his key note address.
Medical expert Ravi Wankhedekar, treasurer of World Medical Association and president SAARC Medical Association said, "Quality in healthcare should be focused in all aspects including human resources, medicines, devices apart from infrastructure, technology and policies. Quality has to be checked at input level also and not only at output level. There is a need to have certain minimum global standards worldwide which could be beneficial to patients, governments as well as caregivers."
Kashipa Harit, deputy director NABH, said, "Healthcare is people-driven business and technology part is for the enhancement. Human error can happen due to overburdening healthcare providers, difficulty in identifying errors, education etc . Standards should focus on patient safety, staff and employee safety, community safety and measurement of performance. Best practices around the world should be inculcated."
