An 81-year-old former vicar and his Romanian toyboy husband have revealed they are living together again in Bucharest after having an 'open relationship' for a year.

Philip Clements, a retired Church of England vicar, and Florian Marin, 27, married three years ago in Kent after meeting on the online dating site Gaydar.

But Mr Clements soon moved back to England, despite selling his home to live in the Romanian capital, because a rift developed over the younger man's late night clubbing.

Now the ex-vicar says he is happy for Mr Marin to visit gay clubs on the weekends and understands he needs to spend time with people his age.

'I know when he's busy not to disturb him and to give him space. He goes to the gay club in Bucharest once a week and I'm fine with that.' Mr Clements told The Sun

'He must have space to be with younger people, it's very important when there's this big age difference. We've both learnt a lot.'

Mr Clements is using his church and teaching pension to help pay for their living expenses in their two-bedroom home in Bucharest.

He said: 'We do have to watch the money but Romania is cheaper than in England so the money goes further.

'We have enough to live on and enough to go to the cinema and out for a meal occasionally.'

He said they are looking forward to celebrating their third wedding anniversary with a home-cooked dinner.

Mr Clements said this time around he had adjusted to the language much better and said Mr Marin had matured since they first met.

The couple had previously experienced turbulence shortly after their marriage when Mr Clements first tried living in Bucharest.

The former vicar moved back to England after just a few months in Romania because he was upset with Mr Marin's clubbing into the late hours.

They were able to keep their romance alive with Whatsapp messaging, however, while Mr Marin moved to work in Spain.

Describing their relationship, Mr Clements said at the time: 'I love him to bits. Sometimes we have a little row but underlying it all I have a deep affection for him.

'I love him to bits, if we were permanently separated, I would be the most unhappy person in the world.'

Mr Marin has said previously he one day wants to be Mr Clements' carer and does not mind about the negative opinions people might have.

The Church of England's rules state that clergy cannot enter same-sex marriages. Civil partnerships are allowed but must remain celibate.

The former parish priest said he had repressed his sexuality throughout his career because of the church's stance on homosexuality but is now able to be his 'true-self.'
