50 more personnel for cybercrime cell

Surat: Police commissioner R B Brahmbhatt transferred officers and junior staffers from different units to fill the vacancies at various levels in the cybercrime police station on Tuesday. Senior police officers said these vacancies were required to be filled up before the financial year ended so as to avoid administrative issues later. If these posts had remained vacant any longer, there were possibilities of their cancellation by the state government, they added.
Several vacancies existed in cybercrime police station ever since it was set up in July 2018. About 44 head constables, constables and lok rakshak jawans along with three police sub-inspectors and three police inspectors were transferred from different police stations and units to the cybercrime police station.
Currently A K Chauhan, police inspector, and J B Aahir, police sub-inspector, are posted in the police station. A D Gamit, A R Dhavan and K A Gadhvi are new police inspectors and R J Sanghani, T A Gadhvi and K A Savaliya new police sub-inspectors.
"The posts were lying vacant since long. Transfers were made to fill up all the vacant posts. The state government is strengthening cybercrime investigation across Gujarat. Hence, we too had been provided many posts,” Brahmbhatt told TOI.
