SA car sales | Vivo and Polo takes VW to the top of the charts

In February 2020, the Volkswagen Polo Vivo and Polo were the two best-selling passenger cars in South Africa.

The Vivo, 2019’s top-selling passenger car, sold 2417 units followed by the bigger Polo on 2120 units. These two cars are also the only passenger vehicles to have surpassed 2000 units last month.

Ford’s Figo and EcoSport sold 1068 and 997 units, respectively, followed by the Toyota Fortuner on 975 units.

Renault’s Kwid did well on 892 units, ahead of the newly launched Toyota Corolla Quest (884 units). The Suzuki Swift (761 units) and Hyundai i20 (676 units) take up slots eight and nine, while the Hyundai Grand i10 completes the top ten on 674 units.

Naamsa says: "The February 2020 new passenger car market had registered an increase of 2 098 cars or a gain of 7,6% to 29 665 units compared to the 27 567 new cars sold in February last year."
