Bigbasket today said that it was suspending all domestic and international
business travel for its 25000 employees. Along with that, no visitors will be allowed in office – all meetings and interviews will now take place on phone or video calls, said head of human resources Hari TN. Employees who travel abroad for personal reasons will have to quarantine themselves for 14 days, while employees who travel domestically will be checked for symptoms and temperature before joining. Delivery persons will undergo temperature scans every day before delivery as well.
Hari also said that all meeting rooms in its offices were now being equipped with video conferencing facilities.
Job portal Indeed has asked all its 8900 employees across the globe to work from home until further notice. It has also suspended all business travel and events.
Conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra said it has put on hold all deputations of employees to other locations for March.
According to reports, a tower in in Hyderabad's Raheja Mindspace has been evacuated after it was found that an employee working
in Dutch multinational DSM, which is housed in the building had a confirmed coronavirus infection.
Companies like Oyo, Sodexo, Freshworks and Coca Cola said they have restricted non-essential business travel, and are following government advisories on coronavirus.
The coronavirus outbreak has infected 28 people in India so far. Globally, the number of infections now stands at more than 90000, while deaths have crossed 3000. More than 60 countries now have reported infections from this disease.
