Over 4,500 Etihad Guest members have donated 18 million miles since the launch of the campaign, this is equivalent to feeding over 850 koalas for one year. Every Etihad Guest Mile donated for food, shelter and care for the animals, Etihad Guest have committed to matching each donation to further support conservation efforts. WIRES has been rescuing and providing care for native animals for over 30 years and donations will go to the rescue and rehabilitation of native animals.
Robin Kamark, Chief Commercial Officer, Etihad Aviation Group, said: “We are proud to offer our Etihad Guest Members the opportunity to contribute to relief efforts of organisations like WIRES in Australia. The country has seen significant destruction to homes and businesses, and a devastating number of wildlife have died as a result of an unprecedented bushfire season. Our members have welcomed this opportunity and have been so generous with their hard-earned miles so far.”
Members who have donated will receive information detailing how their miles have helped the clean-up and relief process. The campaign’s purpose is not only to assist during the current bushfire season, but to provide longer-term infrastructure support that will help prevent future bushfire devastation.
