AGRA: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday said his government will not let anyone slaughter or mistreat cows in the state.
Addressing a public gathering at Rangotsav programme at Radha Bihari Inter College in Barsana, he said, "Our bankey bihari (Lord Krishna) loved and served cows. We will not allow these cows to be slaughtered or tolerate ill-treatment. This is our resolve. We will protect and promote cows."
He added that medicines and vaccines are being sent to every district to eradicate common diseases in cattle and all of them will undergo ear-tagging to monitor administration of medicines.
A monthly grant of Rs 900 for each stray cow is being given by the state government, the CM said. He also inaugurated a modern hospital for cattle at Mataji cow shelter home.
Yogi also offered prayers at Ladliji temple in Barsana and participated in the famous Laddoo Holi.
The CM said it seems that God had chosen him and PM Narendra Modi to resolve issues which were lying pending for years. "The immense power of our bhakti (devotion) has paved the way for the construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya," he added.
"We have achieved unprecedented success in cleaning the Ganga and in the next two years we will attempt to clean the Yamuna as well. These are not just rivers, but our cultural heritage," he said.
Yogi said the focus of his government is on development along with protecting and preserving culture.
He added that by formulating a systematic action plan, his government was working on a solution to the problem of salty water in braj region along with reviving more ponds for water harvesting.
