Uttar Pradesh: Beaten for not paying back, guard loses eye

GREATER NOIDA: A 38-year-old security guard allegedly lost vision in his right eye after his colleage punched him after hitting him on his head with an iron road on February 19, police said. The victim said he has been hospitalised since then and was able to lodge a complaint after more than 10 days.
Raj Kumar, a Firozabad resident, works with a security agency and was deployed at a private firm in the Ecotech 2 industrial area. The accused Mithan Lal, a Haryana resident, also works with him in the same company. As per the complaint, the two live in separate rented rooms in Milakpur village. Raj said that on February 19, Mithan called him to his room and asked for money. After he refused, saying he had no money, Mithan got angry and started arguing with him. “After the argument, he hit me on the head with an iron rod,” he said. He further added that he gained consciousness hours later at the ESIC hospital where he was rushed in by the locals.
An FIR was filed against the accused under IPC sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 326 (causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace). “He will be detained for questioning,” said Harish Chander, DCP (Central Noida).
