Bhavnagar woman dies in bldg collapse

Rajkot: A 60-year-old woman died and her daughter-in-law suffered injuries after their single storey house collapsed in Vadva locality in old city area of Bhavnagar on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Meena Rajendra Hada. Her injured daughter-in-law Reema Mehul Hada (30) has been admitted to Sir T Hosptial in Bhavnagar for treatment. Her condition is said to be stable.
According to the fire officials, the house in which the deceased was living with her husband and son, was very old and in dilapidated condition. They added that when the structure collapsed, only Meena and Reema were inside the house. The other occupants had gone out for work, fire officials said.
Local said that since the locality is a congested area with narrow lanes, the fire vehicle could not reach the spot and had to be parked outside the lane.
The victims were carried on stretchers from the collapse site to the ambulance which was also parked at a distance.
