50k to take II PU exam from today

Mangaluru: As many as 34,346 candidates from more than 200 colleges are scheduled to write the II PU examination at 51 centres in Dakshina Kannada from Wednesday.
The Dakshina Kannada department of pre-university education has made elaborate arrangements across Dakshina Kannada, so that the examination takes place smoothly. Five special squads have been formed to ensure that no malpractice takes place during the examination.
Mohammed Imtiyaz, DDPU, said that out 34,346 candidates, 30,897 are regular or fresh candidates, 1,264 repeaters and 2,185 private candidates. A total 17,137 boys and 17,209 girls will take the examination.
The commerce stream has the highest number of candidates (16,237), followed by science (13,577) and arts (4,532). An official from the department added that to ensure that examination proceedings are foolproof, CCTV cameras have been installed in all the examination centres.
Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said a team headed by additional DC Roopa M J and district treasury officer has been tasked with distributing the question papers.
The vehicles provided to route officers have been fixed with GPS and papers to far off examination centres such as Sullia will be dispatched first, she said, adding the administration has taken all steps as directed by the department of PU education.
On the first day, physics, history and basic mathematics examinations will be held.
In Udupi
A total 15,100 candidates will take the II PU exam in Udupi, out of which 7,733 are boys and 7,367 are girls. The examination will be held in 27 centres.
The commerce stream has 8,236 candidates taking the exam, followed by 5,075 in the science stream and 1,789 candidates in the arts stream.
