PATNA: A team of special task force (STF) arrested notorious criminal Kunal Sharma from Bahadurpur in the state capital on Tuesday. STF sources said he was wanted by the police of three districts in the state for more than two years.
“He was wanted in
Patna, Jehanabad and Arwal. More than 20 cases of serious crime, including murder, loot and extortion, are lodged against him with separate police stations in the three districts,” STF sources said.
They said Kunal, a native of Iera village under Karpi police station in Arwal district was taken to Bahadurpur police station.
“More than a dozen sim cards issued on fake documents were seized from his possession,” an officer said preferring anonymity.
He said seven cases were lodged against Kunal with Bahadurpur police station alone. “The latest case was lodged on December 15 last year,” he said, adding the criminal had been evading arrest since early 2018.
“Three more cases against Kunal are lodged with Patrakar Nagar police station and police had attached his property after court’s order,” STF sources said, adding two cases were lodged against him at Karpi police station.
Kunal was also active in Bihta and Naubatpur areas of western Patna and used to extort money from traders. “Raids were conducted at several locations used as his hideouts in Patna, Jehanabd and Arwal on Tuesday night,” sources said.
