Kolkata: Speeding car hits traffic cop near Kalikapur crossing

KOLKATA: A Kolkata Police constable, identified as Khurshid Alam(33), was hit by a vehicle on Monday morning in Anandapur. Alam was on duty and was posted at the crossing.
The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and the vehicle was impounded. According to the complaint, the accused was driving in a rash and negligent manner.
He was hit from behind near Binayak Guest House on Anandapur High Road close to the Kalikapur crossing. Amin was taken to a nearby hospital and discharged after treatment.
"It is a busy crossing and was strewn with construction material. The driver has been charged for negligent driving and endangering lives of others," said an officer. The Kolkata Police constable is a resident of Alipurduar.
The incident comes on the heels of another case where a civic volunteer was hit by an app cab along Rashbehari Connector in front of old Kasba police station on Monday. The civic cop had asked the driver, who was later found drunk, to halt after skipping a signal. In a bid to escape the cop, he rammed into two other vehicles in the evening.
