In light of the outbreak of Coronavirus around the world, the Indian government has advised all National Sports Federations to have caution while planning foreign competitions and training for teams and individuals, in regards to its importance to Olympic qualification.
An excerpt from the advisory issued read, "While the government understands the criticality of ranking tournaments and Olympic qualifiers, you would understand that the health of our athletes takes precedence. Therefore we would like to request the NSFs to adhere by the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines."
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has also issued an advisory on the Coronavirus on February 19.
The outbreak has had implications across the world, with many sporting events getting postponed and also rumors of the Tokyo Olympics being pushed to a later date.
