Nagpur: A 24-year-old woman jumped to her death from the fourth floor of building where her office was in Mankapur on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased, identified as Ankita Makode, a sales executive, took the drastic step allegedly due to regular torture from her friend to get married.
Mankapur police, under senior PI Vazeer Sheikh, have registered a case of abetment to
suicide against Ankita’s friend Saurabh Wasule, following complaint from her father Krushnarao.
According to police, Ankita and Saurabh were friends since seven years as they both lived in
Pachpaoli area. Since last few months, Saurabh was allegedly pressing Ankita to get married to him over which she was depressed. On Tuesday, Ankita, who had joined a private company four months back, was present at her office when she received a call from Saurabh asking to meet her.
Saurabh came to her office and she came down to meet him during lunch break. The duo got into a quarrel over unknown reason after which Ankita climbed to fourth floor of the building and jumped.
The incident was seen by some passers-by who informed police control room which, in turn, informed Mankapur police station.
Cops, led by PI Sheikh, rushed to the spot and sent the body of Ankita to Mayo hospital after conducting spot panchanama. Mankapur police had earlier registered a case of accidental death in the matter but following complaint from Krushnarao, an offence of abetment to suicide was registered against Saurabh.
