KALYAN: Cracking the whip on latecomers, the newly appointed
Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) commissioner
Dr Vijay Surywanshi on Wednesday morning made surprise visit to different departments of the headquarter and observed that many
civic staff were not in the office on time.
Finding many staff absent, Surywanshi ordered all departments' head asking to probe about those who reached office late without giving reason and asked to cut their half day's salary. The commissioner also directed all departments and seniors in their respective offices to check punctuality of their staff on a weekly basis.
The commissioner's step has surprised all staff specially those who come to office late and leave before time.
The visit was made by Dr Surywanshi at sharp 9.45am when staff should have started their work after reaching office. The normal office timing of civic body is 9.45am to 6.30pm. The action is said to have been taken looking at state government's recent regulations making five-day week for all the government employees. Last month after Dr Surywanshi taking charge as KDMC made surprise visits at different places including skywalks of Kalyan and Dombivli railway stations during which finding hawkers across both skywalks he had suspended three civic officials.
