NOIDA: A 62-year-old man was found dead at his flat in Sai Apartment, Sector 71, police said on Monday.
The cops said that the man died at least five to six days back but the body was recovered only on Sunday after his neighbours got a foul smell emanating from the flat.
The victim was identified as Ajay Mehta, a former businessman. He stayed alone in the first-floor flat , police said.
According to cops, Ajay and his wife divorced around 28 years ago and their son was staying with his mother. An officer told TOI that Ajay had tried to jump from the balcony of his flat last year.
Sushil Yadav, president, RWA (Sai Apartment), told TOI that on Sunday morning, one of the neighbours — Akhilesh Senwal — informed the RWA about the foul smell coming out of Ajay’s flat.
According to the police, the deceased’s foot was near a blower, indicating that the death could be a result of an electric shock. However, they added, the exact cause will be clear after the post-mortem.
