LUCKNOW: Armed relatives of a
Lucknow University BTech second-year student thrashed two hostellers at gunpoint in the second campus on Sunday night.
BTech students Arjun Dubey and Sachin Dev, inmates of Kautilya Hostel, entered into a scuffle over a spat on a social media post. Arjun, who hails from Mainpuri, sustained minor injury and called his relatives who were in city for a wedding. Arjun’s four relatives, carrying three firearms, came in two cars at 11.25pm, barged into the room opposite Arjun’s, held two inmates at gun point and assaulted them while asking who had hit him.
The two students wriggled out of their clutches, pushed them in and locked it even as other hostellers had informed police.
“Two cars screeched to a halt and four men with firearms ran towards our room shouting, “Kisne mara hamare ladke ko” (Who hit our son?). They entered our room, aimed guns at us and asked who assaulted Arjun. We somehow managed to escape and locked them inside,” said a victim.
Police arrested Vikas Dwivedi (32), a primary school teacher,
Mohit Mishra (30) and Rudra Mishra (57), farmers, and Parvesh Dubey (43), a trader, and booked them on charges of assault, criminal intimidation and sections of Arms Act. A 315 bore rifle with 25 bullets, a 12 bore shotgun and a 12 bore double barrel gun with 23 bullets, all licensed, were seized from them.
Incidentally, both Arjun and Sachin were not in hostel at the time of incident.
