Maharashtra SSC exams: Four pages of Marathi paper go viral on day 1
Jalgaon education department lodged the FIR in wake of instructions from the board's divisional secretary, Nitin Upasani.

NASHIK: The Nashik division of Maharashtra State Board for Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) has lodged FIR with cybercrime police in Jalgaon against unknown persons in connection with four pages of the Marathi language question paper that went viral on the first day of SSC examination.
Jalgaon education department lodged the FIR in wake of instructions from the board's divisional secretary, Nitin Upasani.
"About 20 minutes after the exam started at 11:00 am we got information that the question paper went viral from an exam centre at Muktainagar taluka of Jalgaon district. On my instructions a team of local education department officials rushed to that centre to ascertain details on the issue," Upasani told TOI.
According to him the team found out that neither any invigilator nor the centre in-charge was in possession of any cell phone while the exam was on.
"We have ruled out the possibility of the question paper going viral from that centre completely," he added.
According to the Jalgaon education officer, B J Patil, since part of the 16-page question paper had gone viral, the department lodged the FIR since its essential to find out who was responsible in making it viral.
"Our investigations so far have revealed that it had gone viral after the start of the examination so the examinees did not access to the soft copy of the paper that went viral," added Patil.
The officials have requested the cybercrime police to initiate a probe immediately and identify the suspects.
The exam coordinator of the school at Muktainagar, R J Kaulkar, was apparently furious on the issue.
"It is the handwork of notorious elements to bring bad name to the invigilators involved in invigilation in that centre. Police must nab such elements immediately," he commented.
"Carrying mobile phones at exam centres is not permitted both for students and invigilators," Kaulkar said.
A total of 715 students appeared for the examination at that centre in Muktainagar and 32 invigilators were involved for the smooth conduct of the exam.
In the meantime on the first day of the SSC examination there were 10 cases where students allegedly resorted to unfair means during the examination in four districts that are under Nashik division of the board.
While there were five such cases from Jalgaon district, four from Nandubar and one in Dhule. Nashik district did not have any cheating cases.
