KALYAN:
Kalyan's most awaited
Patripul bridge have got new extended deadline of May for completion of work. The new deadline of Patripul bridge was announced on Tuesday after
BJP workers protested against the delay targeting
Shiv Sena leaders and state government.
Shiv Sena MLA
Vishwanath Bhoir during his election campaign last year had claimed that bridge work will be completed by this year's February month end and later MSRDC (Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation) constructing bridge and Kalyan's MP Shrikant Shinde had given deadline of March month.
Due to delay of work and deadline of February over, on Tuesday, BJP's Kalyan district president Shashikant Kamble with his supporters protested against state government targeting Shiv Sena MLA Vishwanath Bhoir and
Eknath Shinde Cabinet Minister of Urban Development and Public Works Department over their promises.
During protest BJP's state secretary and ex-MLA Narendra Pawar said, "The work of Patripul bridge which was required to complete on priority is going at very slow speed and due to delay, thousands of citizens are suffering daily".
Pawar said, "Earlier Shiv Sena MLA Vishwanath Bhoir had claimed that work will be completed by February end and later MSRDC and MP Shrikant Shinde had claimed that work will be completed by March end but in reality work is going at very slow speed causing inconvenience to thousands of people".
BJP leaders claimed that if work is not completed soon they will stage strong protest across city. Meanwhile after BJP's protest, mayor Rane holding press conference accused BJP of doing stunt over issue saying, "Our party's MP Shrikant Shinde continuously making follow up of work from contractor doing Patripul ROB work and work is expected to complete by May end". Rane further said, "Due to some technical problem work of bridge is delayed but it will be ready by May end". Rane also accused BJP of doing stunt over issue saying during tenure of Narendra Pawar as an MLA he hardly visited Patripul bridge while BJP's MP Kapil Patil under whose jurisdiction also Patripul bridge comes never visited spot to see work.
The delay of Patripul bridge work may affect Shiv Sena in upcoming KDMC election which is likely to be held in October. This is the reason BJP is targeting Sena over the issue.
